Context-Aware Extension

The vision of Weiser, where computers are in everywhere and people interact with electronically enriched environments that are sensitive and responsive to them, is closer and closer. To achieve this, Context-awareness is essential to enhance the flexibility and adaptability that pervasive systems require to adapt itself according to the changing conditions and dynamic environments. These aspects forces to pervasive systems have to be highly evolvable and adaptable. Hence, we consider that the use of engineering methods is crucial to properly developing this type of software.

This research line studies the construction of a software engineering method for automatically generate context-aware pervasive systems that are able to adapt itself according to the context information. This method is based on a model driven strategy. It allows us to describe the system at a high level of abstraction by means of a set of models and then automatically obtain the system code from these models and the Ontology that models the context, by following automatic code generation strategy. Thus, we obtain the system automatically and use ontologies to model context information and reason about context at a semantic level.
